About
What FAST Screenplay is
FAST Screenplay is a year-long guided program and private creative writing environment that takes a writer through the entire creative process — from the first spark of an idea to a finished, professional screenplay. It was founded in 2009 by Jeff Bollow, author of Writing FAST, and grew out of a decade of live screenwriting workshops he taught across six countries beginning in 1999. It has operated continuously since. After a complete rebuild, it is currently in private beta, with public beta opening soon.
The one-line
FAST takes what's in your imagination and helps you put it on the page — in your voice, at the speed of thought.
What FAST is not
FAST is not an AI that writes your screenplay. AI can generate stories; it cannot live yours. Everything in FAST is built around a single conviction: the writer's own voice is the product. The system removes the friction between imagination and page — it never replaces the imagination.
Who it's for
- New writers who have a story they can see but have never gotten a screenplay finished.
- Experienced writers who want a complete, structured path from idea to polished, production-aware draft.
- Storytellers who want a private creative space where every idea, note, and draft is captured and permanently theirs.
What makes it different
Most screenwriting education is story-driven: it analyzes what to put where. FAST is process-driven: it teaches how to move from idea to viable screenplay, phase by phase, regardless of genre, style, or structural approach. The method — Focus, Apply, Strengthen, Tweak — is explained on How it works, and the thinking behind it on Philosophy.
Where it stands today
The original program ran from 2009 to 2024, growing by word of mouth and industry referral. In 2024 it closed to new members for a ground-up rebuild; the rebuilt platform has been in private beta since 2025. See Status for what is live right now, and History for the full timeline.
